U12s Build Themselves a Great Platform to Build From

We travelled over to Great Missenden to take on AFC Lightning who have competed consistently at this level over the seasons and looked to be one of our toughest tests of the season so far.

Michael made his first league start in goal for us and we welcomed back Jack from injury. Other than that it was more or less the same squad that took on Prestwood the week before.

We made a similar start to the start we made against Prestwood as Josh H's pace saw him race away from the home defence to give us the lead.

This sprung the hosts into life and they had a magnificent 10-15 spell that saw them score three goals of their own. They really did play some fantastic football in this spell and pulled our team all over the pitch.

We were however not to be beaten and drew ourselves level at half time as Elliott got the ball at his feet and just drove the home defence back towards their goal before hammering home. A lovely ball from Andrew was then latched on to by Josh H to level proceedings at the break.

The second half started just as we wanted to as Charlie refused to give up on the ball as the home defence looked to clear. This enabled him to win the ball around 15 yards out and score in the bottom corner. A well taken goal he created all by himself.

We then added a fourth when Kaelin scored from around 20 yards out into the top left hand corner - a fabulous strike.

Lightning were still looking dangerous though and were it not for two or three excellent saves from Michael in our goal we could have easily found ourselves level if not behind.

We continued to look dangerous however and Charlie was able to add a second goal to his haul for the day to ensure what I think is one of our finest results as a team. We need to build on this in our next game against Chinnor and in our competitive cup games which start on November 29th.

Other mentions go to Igor (joint man of the match with Michael) and Harry at the back for yet another good pair of performances, James for a tireless performance on the left hand side and substitutes Aqib and Jack who both came on and did exactly what was asked of them to ensure we saw the game through.
