Second Successive Draw Highlights Need to Hold onto Leads

This weekend saw us travel to take on Marlow Royals at Marlow Sports Club.

With unavailability and injury knocking numbers we were reduced to two subs which gave the opportunity for increased game time for two or three players.

The final score of 3-3 was a fair one as both sides had spells where they were on top of the game however we had the lead three times during the game (after having had the lead twice during last week's 2-2 draw) which highlights to me we need to work on maybe implicating a different style of play when in possession of a lead rather than carrying on with our usual fast paced attacking game - something to work on after Christmas I suspect.

Our goals came from man of the match Joshua Harrison (2) and a headed goal from a corner by Elliott Behan.

Charlie Davis contributed with two assists, the first a long ball to Josh H for his second goal and the second a lovely weighted corner to set up Elliott's header.

Special mentions go to Jack Rollins and Nelson Nkanzei who both got a good 45 mins or so of football under their belts and will no doubt be better for that over the coming games.

The rest of the match day squad consisted of Oliver Foster, Igor Chrzanowski, Joshua Cotton, Andrew Carr (c), Aqib Zahir and Toby Clark.

Oliver performed well in goal again, using his hands much more and kicking well. Igor organised the defence as well as ever and showed why he has become such an important player to us. Josh C moved the ball well and used his body strength to good affect when required. Andrew worked tirelessly all game and was unlucky not to score with a sublime side foot strike that rattled the post. Toby and Aqib both joined the game as subs late on and settled into the pace of the game straight away and shored us up as tiredness crept in.

All in all another set of positive performances as we go into our last game of the calendar year against Seer Green United on Sunday.
