Over to you First Teams...

If the game between the two clubs' respective first teams on New Years Day is as good as today's encounter everyone will have got their money's worth.

Having faced FC at this age group on a few occasions this was our first meeting at Haywood Way.

Once again we had a big squad going into the game (7 subs) which whilst helping us to stay fresh at all times led to the usual logistical nightmares for the manager!

We started in our usual formation and the game flowed from end to end before we took the lead through Harry Grantham whose hard work in the first 20 minutes of the game was rewarded with his second goal of the season.

The FC players continued to work hard and drew themselves level when we didn't pick up properly at a goal kick (much to my annoyance!).

With half time approaching it looked set to be all square at the break however we were awarded a free kick on the far left hand side which Charlie Davis stroked home from around 20 yards out - a great free kick from Charlie for not the first time this season.

The second half was just as entertaining with both Joshua Harrison and Elliott Behan going close on a number of occasions only to be denied by excellent home goalkeeping and the ball choosing to go over the crossbar rather than under it!

FC equalised when all of our defenders were attracted to the ball which resulted in three FC attackers queuing up to slot home which one of them duly did. In all fairness they were well worthy of a draw and this particular 'El Quackio' enabled everyone to go home smiling.

Special mention to our man of the match Kaelin Shaw who worked hard all game and is showing massive improvement in terms of challenging the aggressive side to his game much better than he did early on in the season. Well done Kaelin - its nice to see I'm listened to (now and then)!

All in all another satisfactory performance as we approach the half way point of the season. One good thing from our point of view was that the two goals we conceded were preventable and we can work on this in training.

Next Sunday sees us travel to Marlow Royals and with a few players likely to be missing from the squad it should give a good opportunity for certain players to stake their claim for more playing time.
