but Standard of Performance Maintained

It was an early start for the U11s as they travelled to Seer Green United for a 9.30 kick off.

The early start showed as the boys were still asleep as the hosts took an early lead.

As they woke up the boys began to play the football they are capable of and missed the target from range on a couple of occasions.

Parity was restored when Charlie Davis managed to squeeze a long range free kick in between the goalkeepers out stretched hand and the crossbar.

Elliott Behan also forced a superb save from the Seer Green keeper with a curling shot from outside the area but it was the home side who went in at the break with a slender lead as they regained the lead just before half time.

Down but not out at half time we made a flying start to the second half with some good passing football and the pace and direct attacking style of man of the match Josh Harrison causing the opposition no end of problems.

Seer Green were however to extend their lead to 3-1 before Josh Harrison scored the goal his performance on the day deserved.

As we tired and looked to score more goals to get ourselves back in the game Seer Green caught us on the break and added two more goals to maybe make the score line not look as close as the game actually was.

Whilst the boys can be disappointed with the result they should not be disappointed with their performance as I thought they played well against opposition who had spent the previous seasons in the upper echelons of the mini conference. Nobody gave up for the entire 60 minutes and we will continue to learn that we cannot leave ourselves exposed in midfield when an attack breaks down against the better sides.

Well done to Oliver Foster for another great display in goal, Igor Chrzanowski, Charlie Davis, Ben Philbey, Aqib Zahir and Jack Rollins for more good performances along the road to becoming accomplished defenders, Josh Cotton, Nelson Nkanzei and Harry Grantham for their determined and physical approach to the game, Josh Harrison, Elliott Behan and Andrew Carr (the engine room) for yet another positive set of performances and Kaelin Shaw for his willingness to drop back from his lone striker position to try and win the ball for the team (whilst a team mate covered his position without any prompting from their manager - well done!).

A shorter (and hopefully slightly later!) away trip to Crendon Corinthians awaits us this coming Sunday.
