Following on from their victory in the yellow division cup last Sunday the U10s played their first game following promotion to the blue division away at Risborough Rangers Blue

Report by Lee Cotton

This was always going to be a tough opener for the young ducks as Risborough are an historically strong club at this level and only last week played in the blue division cup final.

The squad was once again split into two teams of seven a side and the first two games saw the boys come away with a won 1 lost 1 record. The goalscorers for the victorious side were Harry G and George R whilst the team that were defeated more than matched their opponents but were unable to take their chances and all of the goals scored in this game were preventable as Risborough capitalised on defensive errors which will be ironed out in the coming weeks.

The second set of games saw Risborough emerge victorious on both occassions however the boys battled hard until the end of both games and made sure that the hosts earned their victories. The positives from these games were that the teams created plenty of chances and were denied by some fantastic goalkeeping at times. We did manage to get on the scoresheet in one of the games through the ever dependable Andrew C who carried forward his fine goalscoring form from the yellow division.

Manager Lee said of this morning's fixture - "I am quietley pleased with what I saw this morning considering it was our first game at this level. Playing Risborough Rangers Blue first up was a handy exercise as it gives us a clear indication of the standard of the stronger teams in the division and to win one of the games was tremendous. We played well for around 2/3rds of the games in which we were defeated but for the 1/3 where our performances dropped off the opposition made us pay whereas in the yellow division you could probably get away with having quieter spells during matches. The weather conditions were terrible this morning and they may have had an effect on the level of our performance but it was the same for both teams. We now need to draw on the positives from this morning and work on the negatives in training to ensure we continue to progress."

The boys have a home fixture against Marlow Royals next Sunday before having a two Sunday break from games for half term.
