A day for learning

It was a perfect day for football in terms of weather, on a not so perfect pair of pitches

The friendlies were treated as just that by Manager Pete and sadly the results suffered because of it. Maximum time was given to all the players and everyone was called upon to play out of there preferred positions. Coupled by the fact we played the goal kick incorrectly - U9 kick from edge of area, U10 from the byline - which was entirely the managers fault - it led to two very one sided matches being played by the team captained by Matt.
On the plus side there was two new faces to the side - Nathan (defence) and Jamie (winger) who add quality to the squad. Dillon has established himself in the heart of defence and we now have what Brian Clough would refer to as a spine running through the centre of the team - from Toby, Dillon, Matt to Bradley.
The main purpose of the friendly was to determine finally the best position for the players and it has now fallen into place.Finn and George will work best from now on in the winger positions and Jonnie will be in defence in future. There will be much less change in positions for players so they can concentrate on a set place in the team and learn it for the remainder of the season.
It was a day for the manager to learn more - not least about the rules and refereeing! and a day to forget about the results.

Thanks Lads
