Colts great effort in the cold & mud

REPORT: Colts v Afc Lightning
Steves team
Noah
Cameron
Junaid
Tommy
Olek
Merouanne

Game 1.
Noah took his place in goal again this week and put in another solid performance with some excellent diving and fingertip saves, he is also making his voice loud and clear when needed in organising his defence and claiming the ball. Olek had a busy game and was confident and strong on the ball with some great tackles and showed improvement with his vision for passing, setting up Merouane for his goal. Cameron was running all over the pitch getting into good space and making runs into the box and also tracked back tackling when needed. Merouane had an excellent game causing problems for the opposition for the whole game with his quick footwork and skill saw him having a lot of runs at goal and although scoring one could of had many more if not for some great keeping. Tommy was up front and his game was impressive getting shots away and did everything but score, good runs, movement, pressing play and a good all round game. Junaid came on for Olek and was confident and strong in defence getting well timed tackles in and good pressure when chasing the ball.

Game 2.
Noah stayed in goal and again had a fantastic game he's getting much more confident in this role making himself big when needed, coming off his line and good decision making when distributing the ball. Junaid continued defending and sat back and controlled his area both confidently and strong on the ball and pushed forward with the team at times. Merouane was running all over and comfortable with the ball at his feet taking players on and getting shots in at goal and after a great solo run slotted home his first of the match and second of the day. Olek took a midfield role in this game and broke up play very well and dominated the midfield with Merouane, his vision for a pass is brilliant and again set up Tommy for his goal with a superb through ball and unlucky himself hitting the woodwork with a splendid shot. Tommy was striker again and showed excellent space awareness, some brilliant touches and good skill and finished off with 2 well taken goals.

Star man was .Merouane. As chosen by the team

An excellent well fought game great effort by all well done boys

Elliott took up position between the sticks for this game and made a couple of good saves. He couldn't do much to stop the goal but apart from that had a good game. Josh started in defence and played well. Put his foot in when he could and chased back well. He always looks to push strikers out wide which is good to see. Sophie took up midfield and played well. Runs forward and back was a joy to see. She's always looking to put in a good tackle. Played some nice balls forward to. Theo took up midfield as well and started off where he left off last week. Played some good ball forward to the striker and made some great runs. His tracking back and putting in a good tackle has improved so much. Harry took up striker position and played well. He had a one on one but unfortunately didn't put it away. He does track back which is good to see but must learn not to dive in. Roch came on in the second half for Josh and played well. Put in some good tackles and cleared the ball well. His ball control is returning which is great to see.

Harry took up the goal keeper roll and played well. He may of let in 6 but still saved a few. His head dropped a little which did distract him but he will bounce back. Josh started at the back and played another good half. His confidence improving as the half went on. He made some good tackles and cleared the ball well. Had to come off due to injury. Rock played at the back as well and played well. Put in some good tackles and cleared the ball well. We just need to encourage to all push out as a team. Sophie took and midfield and played really well. Tracked back well and made some great tackles. Bursts forwards where great to see and unfortunately not to score. Theo took up strike and again ran his heart out. Made some great runs forward and when needed ran the length back to put in a tackle. Was unfortunate not to have at least a hat-trick in this game. Elliot came on in defence for Josh. He played well and put in a couple of last ditch tackles. Played the ball out from defence at time which was good to see.
I must say the score line was a bit flattering. They scored on the breaks at time when it was 3 v the keeper. On another day we could of had 6 as well. Over both games boys and girl you should be proud as you put 100% effort in and that's good to see. Pitch conditions where shocking.

Star Man: Theo Tomlinson
This was chosen by the parents. Theo played well across both games and was everywhere. Through defence, midfield and strike he was everywhere. Put in a good shift and great effort. Well done
