More playing time

Our final game as a Buddy team had us playing away to Wycombe Saints in the Yellow division.

The players for the day were: Taylor, Billy Broomhead, Zaid, Courtney, Harry, Theo, Elliott, Josh, Tommy, Roch, Olek, Max.

Due to the player numbers they were split into two teams each playing a full half of each game.

Gavin (Harrys Dad) and David (Elliott’s Dad) each took charge of a team.

David’s Team: Taylor, Billy, Zaid, Max, Courtney, Elliot

Gavin’s Team: Theo, Harry, Josh, Tommy, Roch, Olek

Game 1 (1st Half – David’s Team): Elliott took the goalkeeping duties, showing some good decision making with some excellent saves and some fine distribution. Zaid showed great game sense at the back, excellent tackles and played the ball very well. Billy showed good ability with the ball and had some great runs forward. Taylor showed good strength and power with some good breaks forward. Courtney showed some good touches in the middle and passing to her team mates. Max was non stop for the whole half, tackling and running with the ball at his feet.
(2nd Half – Gavin’s Team) Olek was the keeper and made some excellent saves and at times good decision making. Theo had a very good game and made some important clearances and showed some good composure when looking for the pass to team mates. Tommy looks better each week with the ball at his feet and keeps trying to run forward with the ball along with getting back when needed. Harry showed some good touches and speed running forward with the ball. Josh had a very good game with some excellent tackles even pulling off a little trick and turn.

GAME 2 (1st Half – David’s Team): Goalkeeper was Max who had a very good half with some good saves and played the ball out well. Taylor again showed some good composure with some neat attacking play. Courtney again showed some good touches and looked for the pass very well. Elliot was enjoying himself and made some good tackles, showed a great touch and some good ability dribbling with the ball. Billy had some good runs forward with the ball with a good touch.
(2nd Half – Gavin’s Team): Harry was keeper for the 2nd half and made some good saves and was good at ball distribution, keeping a clean sheet as a reward for his hard work. Josh had another good half and was strong in winning the ball and looked to pass where he could. Tommy had good energy again trying to push the team forward and run at the opposition with the ball. Theo was again strong in the tackle, full of energy and is getting more confident with the ball at his feet in both passing & running with the ball. Olek & Roch were again everywhere, tackling the opposition, running with the ball and always getting back to help when needed. Only some resolute Wycombe defending stopped the team scoring, shots from Theo, Josh, Olek & Roch all somehow stopped from going in the net.

A very pleasing thing to see was a number of the children getting more comfortable with the ball and trying turns with the ball and little tricks. All things we have been practising in training.

Many Thanks to all the children for their efforts. Parents for the support as always, Gavin & David for taking the teams and also Jim for his refereeing skills.
