Mr John Bishop & The Colts

Sunday saw the second game for the newly formed u8's colts side which took us on our travels to Chinnor.

Players for the day were: Taylor, Harry, Elliot, Max, Theo, Tommy, Robbie, Josh, Olek, Roch and Zaid.

GAME 1

Elliot took his place in goal for the first game and made some great saves. His reading of the game and movement off his line were excellent. In the first half Zaid, as always was strong and committed making some great tackles. Olek started in the middle with Taylor and really played well. Passing, tackling and looking to push forward whenever possible. Taylor had a fantastic half. From his own goal line to taking free kicks and corners, he was everywhere and scored from a cracking long range effort. Harry also worked his socks off. Always making himself available with some great runs and some fine tackles as well. Max came on and really got involved. Tackled well and his reading of the game gets better and better. A great performance by all.

The second half had Josh, Theo, Tommy, Robbie and Roch lining with Elliot and again I was impressed by all. Josh grows and grows every week and some of his tackling and positional play were brilliant. Theo ran the midfield and really seems calm and composed on the ball. Robbie's tackling and energy were excellent, and Tommy played really well with some great dribbling and one dare I say "cruyfesque" turn which took out three players! Roch again is improving every week and although just a cameo in the first game, his best was yet to come. All in all a fantastic effort against a decent side.

Game 2

Olek took his place in goal for the second game and pulled off some great saves. One particular point blank save right at the end comes to mind! With him for the first half were Josh, Taylor, Harry, Max and Elliot.
Josh once again was fantastic at the back and made some great tackles, even after getting a knock. Taylor once again proved to be fantastic in the middle of midfield and was everywhere, working his socks off with a huge smile on his face. Max ran his heart out and got involved while Harry had another good game up front which very nearly ended with a cracking headed goal from a good Taylor cross. Elliot came on and again showed real ability when out on the pitch. A dribble and run past 3 players from one end of the pitch to the other being the highlight. Well done boys.

The second half saw Olek joined by Zaid, Theo, Roch, Tommy and Robbie.
Zaid once again showed that his reading of the game is excellent and always seems to be in the right place at the right time to make a tackle. Theo again looked very strong in the middle and very nearly scored. Roch had an excellent half. Back working hard in defence and then quick to spring forward when the chance came. This resulted in a very well taken goal and his smile was priceless! Tommy again showed some great skill and technique plus good determination to win the ball back. Robbie came on and made two fantastic challenges, both of which led to chances.

All in all, a hugely enjoyable morning. The boys really gave there all and you can't ask for anymore. Two cracking goals and some great teamwork led to one happy coach and smiles all round from the boys.

Thanks finally go to the parents and family/friends who made the trip. Your support was fantastic and it's great to see so many of you. Hope to see you at Wycombe next week!
